• Advanced defect modeling in very deep submicron integrated circuits, in particular resistive defects
• Resilient computing using unreliable nano components
• Reliability and test methods for nanotechnology and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)
• Formal verification of hybrid discrete-continuous and real-time systems

• Test and Diagnosis in Nanoscale Technologies (funded by the German Research Foundation – DFG)
• Identification and Test of Critical Components under Process Variations (funded by the DFG within the second funding phase of the RealTest project)
• Modeling, Verification and Test of Acceptable Circuit Behavior (funded by the DFG within the first funding phase of the RealTest project, completed in 2008, positively evaluated and extension granted)

Involvement in other projects

• Automatic Verification of Advanced Complex Systems (AVACS, DFG SFB) – participant in projects H2 (bounded model checking and inductive verification of hybrid systems) and R2 (Timing analysis, scheduling and distribution of real-time tasks)
• Test and Verification of Nanoscale Digital Circuits (joint project with Prof. John P. Hayes supported by the Humboldt Research Award from the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation)
• Graduate School «Embedded Microsystems» (DFG-Graduiertenkolleg) – de-facto co-advisor in project B.1 (Test methods for MEMS) in the first funding phase (2005-2008) and one project in the second funding phase (2008-2011)
